Memories of Clermont Comic Con 2018

I went again this year, with hope that I have more titles of interest and able to get more customers. I did speak with a wonderful lady who loves reading, and was happy to get a copy of Strangely Funny and History and Mystery. I had more people ask about NaNoWriMo - I had a sign up promoting it - and a good number of people eager to get bookmarks for free.

Clermont is not a large-scale con like MegaCon or TampaBayCon, but it's pretty active for a city-run event. I'm hoping more people keep showing up for this.

Also, I asked for some help this year watching the table, so my nephew Drew volunteered to backup and help with sales and convention seeing.

The view from my table

Here's Drew as we get the table finished. Good lord, he's grown up since his
last comiccon (seen here at the Tampa Bay one in 2015)

Here's fellow author and convention vendor Bill Hatfield! He's sitting across
the aisle from me.

Here comes the first cosplayers of the day! Steam Punks!

R2! You see him rolling, they faintin...

One other thing that happened this trip: I got my brother Phil to see just how hilly Clermont is. A long-time cross country runner, even HE is impressed by the terrain.

Good luck, NaNo writers!

I Survived Epicon 2017. Did You?

My biggest regret from the weekend trip was not getting to hear "Hit the Road Jack" over at the Ray Charles statue.

In the meantime, I documented the atrocities. Have a look!

Every librarian has the habit of visiting other libraries when they travel.

This is the main library for the county system.

The Ray Charles Plaza across from the hotel.

Piano keys motif! There are speakers around the monument, but the water fountain made too much noise...

Getting set up Saturday morning at my convention booth!

I keep working on my arched eyebrow look.

This is my official Geek Cosplay outfit. I'm dressing like I did in college.

Early morning crowd as the events pick up.

Pokemon Cosplayers. I think. I know the one on the right is a Pikachu.

A view of the main panel booth, taken from the above center seats.

One tip for running an Author/Artist booth: Have something to attract the passers-by.
Hence the bowl of candy.
If I learned anything on this trip to Albany GA, it's that the people here LOVE KIT KAT BARS.

Zatanna Cosplayer posing with Captain America Cosplayer.

Anime/Manga Cosplayers... for something I haven't read or watched. Hopefully someone will tell me.

I think this is a gamer Cosplay. The Armor and Weapon most likely shaped foam, to keep it lightweight.

Alice in Wonderland Cosplay!

Wonder Woman! And Dark Knight!

Wonder Woman didn't want to fight Bats, but we talked her into
humiliating him instead.

A big reason I traveled up for Epicon was to visit Albany itself. I was born here,
but haven't been back since the family moved in 1974/75 to Virginia. It took some time
following directions from my parents, but I found the road where we lived when we left.
I vaguely remembered how the road was straight, with large front yards and tall trees.
Sadly, I did not sell any copies of the books I brought to the table, but attendees did take some of my bookmarks and contact info, and also the coupon for 50 percent off on any Createspace purchase of Strangely Funny III (which contains the apt story "Minette Dances With the Golem of Albany."). If anyone wants the coupon code, please email me and I'll forward you the code!

Kitteh Update 03/24/14: Faces

Doing my best to get pictures of the baby kittens, and maybe get to figuring out how to tell the three all-black kittens apart (Mal I can figure from his behavior)...
Jayne, maybe. Most cautious of the three (maybe if I got him a hat...)

Kaylee (or Inara if you still prefer)

Mal. Only he would be brave enough to get close to eat my pants (true).

River. Looking so very much like mama Ocean...

Zoe maybe. Cautious yet alert.
Simon wasn't available for easy photographing. I'll add him when I can.
