Raving about Star Wars: May the 4th Be With Your Groove

I should tell you, both seasons of Andor on DVD/Blu-Ray are checked out at my library system.

Star Wars has had a long history of pop music influence - from the disco version of the main theme onward - and the "Niamos" track is no different.

May the 4th Be With You this 2025

Alas, May the 4th falls on a Sunday, when my library is closed. Good thing is, the first Saturday of May is also Free Comic Book Day, so my library still celebrated them both!

Defending the books since 1994!

We had members of the Tampa Bay squad of the 501st show up during the morning to help promote the comic book giveaways!

There was a Lightsaber Training for families up in the meeting room on the second floor, but I don't have any pics of that to share.

So today, make sure to do your full-day binge-watch of the Skywalker Saga! Either that or pretend you did and prep for Cinco De Mayo tomorrow (owstophittingme).

Also, I need to get around to posting my long-overdue thoughts on Episodes VIII and IX of those movies. Perhaps during Memorial Day weekend when I've got time.

May The 4th Be With You On This Free Comic Book Day!

Every first Saturday of May is Free Comic Book Day.

It just happens to fall on May 4th, which is May The 4th Be With You.

So it's gonna be a busy day here at Bartow Library.

Yeah, the hoodie is a little TOO big.

Just be wary of the Revenge of the Sixth.

2023 REVENGE OF THE FIFTH

Which is also considered Revenge of the Sixth for tomorrow, because May 5th conflicts with Cinco De Mayo...

Lemme get you some Sith:

Whoa.

Nickelback just called, Megan, they need you for the next tour.

This whole transition thing is a thing on TikTok and YouTube...

But how long have the geeks been making lightsaber video clips???

This was maybe 17 years ago (!):

May The 4th Be With You this 2021

Due to Disney Plus, streaming services in dire need of fresh content, a growing comic book and print book industry of YA and adult materials, and an eager audience of Star Wars fandom spreading across three generations now, May the 4th is just about as official a national holiday as anything else.

It has helped somewhat during this pandemic to have our stories and our shows comfort us, to bring us light forth from the darkness.

They made a big deal today about releasing a new animated series The Bad Batch about the aftermath of Order 66. We've got a book series about the sunny days of the grand Republic, before its fall into war and chaos.

But let us not talk of heartbreak and the loss of hope during the Dark Times of the Empire.

Let us talk about BABY YODA!!!

ALL IS GOOD WITH THE FORCE AS AHSOKA IS BACK!

AND IF WE'RE REAL NICE THEY MIGHT LET THE FANS GOFUNDME A REMAKE OF EPISODE 9 TO FIX GLARING CONTINUITY ERRORS AND A BETTER ENDING.

...Yeah, that still hurts, I do need to issue a review of that when I can calm down.

Anyway, MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!!!

I Feel a Disturbance in the Fourth, As Though Millions of Fans Were Blogging And Were Suddenly Geeked Out

It's May the 4th.

As in, May The Fourth Be With You.

And this is a good year to be a Star Wars geek as this is happening:

Chewie, we're home...
And yes, with The Force Awakens movie coming out December, we are indeed home...
I want that toy.  I really wanted a Falcon since I was kid, but the models were too big for the bookshelves in my room so I held back.  NO MORE.  I may be turning 45 this month, but with this series I am STILL that seven-year-old sitting in the Clearwater Bijou (sadly so long gone) watching the first movie A New Hope again and again...
